Don’t leave home without it!…Man riding bike shot in Pasadena neighborhood – Local Crime

Stay vigilant. Keep your head on a swivel. Be armed whenever possible. It all sounds like paranoia until this kind of thing happens…

A man was shot and robbed Thursday morning as he rode his bicycle in a residential neighborhood in Pasadena.

One can argue that it’s “Pasadena” and that one should expect to hear of robberies on the street there but, this wasn’t some run down dump in Pasadena. It’s actually a fairly nice neighborhood and even in the worst neighborhoods, you shouldn’t live in fear of victimization and no one should simply accept victimization as a way of life.

Yes, we advocate getting a CHL and training. Even if you don’t do the CHL or choose to carry a gun, at least consider self-defense in combative disciplines such as Systema or Krav Maga.  One thing that certainly won’t help you is sticking your head in the sand and pretending it can’t happen to you.

  1. I’m not familiar with Systema or Krav Maga, but if those are code for M79 Grenade Launcher and M18 Claymore, I’m with you. I’ve ridden a bike on the Terry Hershey Park trail for years. It’s 36 round trip miles of off the street riding. It’s also where two 18 year old black ex-con thugs (or as Channel 2 News referred to them, “two teenagers”), raped and robbed a woman at gunpoint two weeks ago and also robbed at gunpoint several other people in the area over several days. I’ve not ridden that trail without my .45 and 14 rounds of JHP ammo in a very long time. I also watch the people coming toward me and check out anyone coming up behind me.

It’s still dangerous and will remain so until the “anti-gun crime” zealots start taking their anger out on the DA’s and judges in the court system and demanding that these scumbags stay in prison and don’t get easy plea bargains. Both of the thugs in the above incidents had prior arrests and convictions. Yet the anti gun people are often the same ones who say, “It’s not their fault. The system never gave them a chance.”, and then they try and make it harder for me to defend myself.
