Got a cool extra $12,000 just laying around? If so, you’ve got a chance at owning a piece of history…

Solid Concepts announces a limited sale of the 1911 3D Printed metal gun that made manufacturing history last month. Only one-hundred of the 1911 3D Printed metal guns will be manufactured and sold by the company using the same file, process and engineering as the very first 3D Printed metal gun.

Personally, it’s a bit rich for my blood. $12,000 is half the money I need for a Tracking-Point XS1 or a whole lot of ammo. I need the ammo more than I need another gun. Wait, what am I saying?!?! Ugh, I’m so conflicted!

    • Not sure where they are getting their pricing data, Jack. When we spoke with August Crocker of Tracking-Point in October, the XS1 was priced at $27,500. The XS2, started at about $25,000 and the XS3 was “only” $22,000. Now having said that, I imagine the price will start creeping down as they have a new AR based unit coming online in which the scope is a significantly smaller package. It probably benefits from packaging lessons learned in their partnership with Remington’s 20/20 system.
