Robbing a gun store is just never a good idea. Unfortunately, an attempt to rob the She’s A Pistol gun store in Shawnee, Missouri has also cost one of the store owners his life. Jon Bieker, 44, husband to Rebecca Bieker died of injuries sustained in the ensuing shootout from a robbery attempt earlier today. Rebecca Bieker was also injured but, at last report, all four suspects, including two who fled the scene, were in custody.

The Shawnee Mayor, Jeff Meyers issued the following statement about the shooting:

“Today is a day of great sadness in our city. John and Becky are respected business owners in our community who do things the right way and are always willing to go out of their way to help others.

The simple fact is there is no place for this type of violence in Shawnee or any other city. We pride ourselves on being a safe and friendly city and today’s events, while unbelievably tragic, will not change that.

I want to pass along my condolences to the entire Bieker family. As they deal with this tremendous loss, I know our community stands ready to assist in any way that we can.”

We hope Mrs. Bieker recovers quickly. There’s nothing we can say to make up for the loss of her husband but, we still offer our condolences. We also hope the suspects are tried, convicted, and see justice served swiftly.
