Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good sound bite…

This has bothered me to no end for weeks.  Days after Wayne LaPierre spoke the NRA new conference in response to the Sandy Hook tragedy, I heard liberals left and right saying his speech was shameful and that he’d made a fool of himself in calling for armed teachers.  But I couldn’t for the life of me remember hearing him say that. Armed security in the schools, certainly but, I don’t remember him saying all our kindergarten teachers needed to get strapped as the media has continually suggested.  So I decided I needed to read the transcript again, just to be clear because, it’s not like the media would ever get something wrong.

Well, I can’t find a single phrase in the entire thirteen page document.  Those of us who actually listened to the press conference with an open mind will not be surprised by this “revelation.” The fact is the liberal media is continually spinning “the facts” to fit their agenda while quietly, Democrats across the country are apparently embracing what Wayne LaPierre actually suggested…Professional, armed security for schools.  Congress is looking at grants to fund it.  Legislatures around the country have already authorized it in many cases.  So it seems that while the media continues to sell the idea that “we” and the NRA are crazy for suggesting it, legislators and administrators across the country are quietly acknowledging the idea that armed security is, in and of itself, a deterrent where as “Gun Free Zones” are a magnet for tragedy.

  1. The NRA told them the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is with a good man with a gun. The media and those who are supporting gun control are interested only in supporting gun control. Nothing we say will be accepted by them. They want to pass laws restricting ammunition magazines and different kinds of weapons owned by law abiding citizens. Their goal is to have a gun free nation. They aren’t concerned about the fact that gun control doesn’t work. They state that it will not solve the problem. They think that it will reduce the number of people killed because a person will have to reload before he can kill more people. They aren’t trying to analyze and figure what methods and things can be put in place to prevent such a thing from happening again. The only way to prevent it is to put someone armed in position to stop it before it gets started.
They pass laws but as with fast and furious they feel they don’t have to obey the laws that they pass. It has been said that Fast and Furious happened because they needed an excuse to pass gun control. They are using Newtown, CN as an excuse to pass gun control.

I can refer only one thing to those who say they are concerned about principals, teachers and students carrying on the school grounds and in the class rooms.
    THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION
    ARTICLE 1. BILL OF RIGHTS

Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.

The Texas Constitution Article 1. Bill of Rights, states that The Texas legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime. Any other view would be a violation of the Texas Bill of Rights and would be denying a citizen of their rights to protect themselves under the Texas Constitution. The Texas Legislature has granted that right to the school Districts but they don’t have to if they don’t want to.

    Sincerely,

    Ralph E Carter Jr.

  2. I would like to hear from some teachers and administrators who have an interest in being armed, either because the already have a CHL or because they would like to get the training and be truly able to protect themselves and their students from violence brought to them.
