Follow up to the PA shooting mentioned earlier today….Case Worker Dead, Two Wounded In Mercy Wellness Center Shooting – FOX 29 News Philadelphia | WTXF-TV

Armed good guy with a gun, stops a mass shooting. It’s not on the mainstream media news because a successful engagement means there aren’t a dozen dead bodies to gloat over. But now, the doctor who saved the day, may face a loss of his job and his medical license.

Police believe there was a gunfire exchange between the doctor and suspect. According to Whelan, two guns were retrieved from the scene. The suspect did have psychiatric issues and was a patient, according Whelan. Whelan also says various employees wrestled suspect to the ground.

  1. I can’t find any reference to the doctor’s job and license being at risk, but he probably was in violation of stupid hospital rules. The thing that gets me is the DA giving “credit to the staff for intervening”. Had it not been for the doctor shooting the perp (3 times?), those staff members would likely have been additional victims…along with the doctor. So the doctor saved at least 3 lives counting his own.

Why can none of the mainstream press give proper credit. I see here MyFox Philadelphia, New York Times, and Reuters all report the story, yet no one credits the doctor as the hero of the hour. The official hospital statement thanks law enforcement (for arriving after the fact and scaring the crap out of everyone in the area with their SWAT gear and “assault weapons”, and then taking down statements–which is all law enforcement can usually do anyway.) Is everyone afraid to say the armed doctor saved lives?
