We can’t make this stuff up…Officer shot wife in buttocks showing gun to pals – Houston Chronicle

Officer shot wife in buttocks showing gun to pals – Houston Chronicle.  Most common BS line we hear at GOTR…”It just went off.”  We call BS because between the three of us, we’ve fired well over 1.5 million rounds and been there on the line to supervise that many or more.  Guns, especially handguns made since 1980, don’t typically just go off.  Typical bolt-action rifles and sporting shotguns may be a different story as they are not designed to be carried into combat but, service grade handguns from the likes of SigSauer, Smith&Wesson, Colt, HK, Glock, etc, don’t just mysteriously go BANG! without a booger-hook (aka finger) or some other object pressing on the bang switch (aka trigger) with sufficient force to activate the entire fire control system, up to and including, disabling a firing-pin block.  That doesn’t happen by accident unless you’re an incompetent idiot or, in the words of Lee Paige, the only one in the room professional enough to handle a firearm.

China condemns U.S. gun ownership as human rights violation – National gun rights | Examiner.com.  I’ll say again…WTF?!?!  Of course, I could say, “Why should we care what China thinks?”  The sad reality is that the United Nations’ leadership and political majority are increasingly made up of countries and people that think like this.  It’s just one more reason the US really needs to get out of the UN and get UN out of the US.

Todd Reed: Veteran, Amputee, Outfielder

Todd Reed: Veteran, Amputee, Outfielder | Vitality – Yahoo! Shine.  I’m going to go out on a limb and call Todd Reed a hero and the kinda guy we all should aspire to be.  If you disagree, I don’t care.  The man did his job, got knocked on his tail by a landmine and got back up without hesitation or feeling sorry for himself and continues to do so.

US Army Adopts New M4 Magazine, Bans All Other Magazines (Even PMAGs) – Gun News at Guns.com

US Army Adopts New M4 Magazine, Bans All Other Magazines (Even PMAGs) – Gun News at Guns.com.

Yet another episode of Army brass sticking it to the grunts on the ground.  I’ve put my fair share of rounds through the standard issue magazines as well as PMAGs and others.  PMAGs are clearly superior to the standard issue mags and I think Slowik makes a solid point that the Army may be thumbing their noses at PMAGs now, solely because MagPul wasn’t willing to give up the patent.
