Smith & Wesson: On the Ropes Again? – The Truth About Guns

Robert Farago paints a pretty bleak picture for the storied brand. Sadly, I am inclined to agree with him. In fact, baring another politically correct fueled run on guns, S&W won’t be alone. Colt is also in deep financial trouble and rumors have been swirling about HK for months.

It seems a lot of the industry banked on the post Newtown buying panic as being a long term financial model. In doing so, some may have done the anti-gunners’ work for them. Time will tell.

Of course, for those who have patiently waited for the dust to settle, the time may be fast approaching for another buying spree. An opportunity to buy all the stuff you’ve ever wanted at bargain basement prices. Even if that is the case, it would be a shame to see these titans of the industry go away, leaving us with the likes of HiPoint and Diamondback to be the new standard. Let’s hope things don’t go that far.
