Army Rejects M9A3 Proposal, Opts for New Pistol | Military.com

by late December, it was all over for Beretta’s engineering change proposal for the M9. The Army’s Configuration Control Board decided not to evaluate the M9A3, according to a source familiar with the decision.

The move clears the way for the Army to release a pending request for proposal that will launch the MHS competition.

Looks like Beretta is officially getting kicked off the government tit. I don’t blame them for trying and it really would have been a logical move by the Army and Department of Defense to adopt the M9A3 but, it sounds like the majority of people with stroke on such decisions are committed to going in a new direction. Chances are this will be some polymer framed pistol as that is the “modern” method of manufacturing pistols these days. Many polymer framed pistols allow a great deal more versatility with respect to fitting a wide variety of hands compared to traditionally manufactured pistols. Time will tell.

Former Eagles cheerleader now stars for Army. via USAToday.com

At 25, many women in this country are still struggling to shake off adolecence and are just a few months away from becoming the old chick in the club. Rachel Washburn, a former Philidelphia Eagles cheerleader, is not among them. She really was one of those women who was just paying for college as a cheerleader. And when she was done with college, she traded one green uniform for another…She joined the Army. ¬†She’s just back from her second tour of duty in Afghanistan as a US Army intelligence officer. It can be argued she’s not out on the front line but, even if she’s in the rear with the gear, she’s still doing more before 6AM than most men, let alone women, her age will do all day. That commands some respect no matter how you look at it.
