NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -A North Las Vegas teen is being hailed a hero after scaring home invaders away with a rifle and protecting his young brother and sister in the process.

The break-in occurred in the middle of the day at a home located near Ann Road and Aliante Parkway.

It was a call that Kiewa Mason said he’d hoped to never get from his son.

“I said, ‘Is everything OK? And he said, ‘No, someone has broken into our house,’” Mason said.

We’re glad to hear this young man, Andrew Mason, was able to defend his home and his siblings. His father, Kiewa, is obviously doing something right!

Anti-gunners will be quick to point out this could have been so much worse. They are right. It is very plausible that had there not been a gun in the home, Andrew and his siblings would have been just another statistic. Thankfully, we’ll never know the alternative outcome because there was a gun in this home and Andrew knew what to do with that gun while waiting for police to arrive.

There are days that I am glad I am not rich. Temptation would surely get the better of me. For less than the cost of a Ferrari, I’d just have to have this as the ultimate commuter vehicle. Of course, the Chieftain is British so remember that it’s not leaving a puddle or otherwise leaking, you’re probably out of oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, fuel or all of the above. Plan accordingly.
