It’s FINALLY up! Technical difficulties and life got in the way of the April 19th podcast but, I assure you, it’s worth the wait. Gregg Garrett, president and founder of Comp-Tac Victory Gear was kind enough to host the GOTR crew once again at his game reserve, known among the cool guys as Muzunga Ranch. Gregg is a long time friend of the show and it is a running joke among friends that if someone made a documentary about his life, no one would believe it was true. So tune in and listen up as Jeff and Jason talk with Gregg about how his (and Comp-Tac’s) origins in the firearms industry as well as what the future might hold.

Odd Trivia, Frank Sinatra was almost cast as Dirty Harry

This is going to hit a couple buddies of mine in the feels. But, would you believe the role of Harry Callahan was originally written for Frank Sinatra? The reason he lost the role however is about as uncool as it gets…He couldn’t lift Dirty Harry’s famous revolver, the Smith & Wesson Model 29, .44 Magnum.

While I like Sinatra, I personally can’t imagine him in that role. Eastwood, McQueen, Newman, or even Bronson all would have been far more realistic options. But between a wrist injury and a relatively small frame Sinatra just wasn’t big enough…5’8″ and may be 110lbs wet, even if Ava Gardner swore 10lbs of that was between his legs.

Texas House gives final approval to open carry | abc13.com

House lawmakers in a 101-42 vote gave final approval to open carry on Monday after preliminarily passing the bill Friday. The state Senate has already approved a similar version and the chambers could send the measure to Gov. Greg Abbott to sign into law in the coming weeks.

Uber driver, licensed to carry gun, shoots gunman in Logan Square – Chicago Tribune

Authorities say no charges will be filed against an Uber driver who shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire on a crowd of people in Logan Square over the weekend.

The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.

You know, I seem to remember more than a few anti-gun zealots screaming that this kind of thing NEVER happens. That there is NEVER a good guy with a gun other than a cop. That no private citizen has EVER stopped a mass shooting. Low and behold, in that most anti-gun of states, Rahm Emanuel’s back yard, and President Obama’s adopted home town, an as yet unidentified and law-abiding private citizen stepped up to the plate to act long before anyone with the local PD could act and prevented anyone else from getting hurt.

German Report: G36 Accuracy Issues, Entire Platform Flawed – The Truth About Guns

Nick Leghorn over at The Truth About Guns drops some knowledge that those in the know have been saying for years. The G36 ain’t all that. Sorry HK fanboys, not all that is HK is perfect or without compromise.

In a report released Friday by the German Army’s technical team, the ongoing accuracy issues with the H&K G36 rifle (the main battle rifle of the German armed forces) have been officially confirmed. The report states that not only do the accuracy issues crop up after sustained periods of rapid fire, but even the ambient temperature and humidity can negatively impact the rifle’s accuracy such that it no longer functions within the required parameters . . .
