So the first autopsy results are in. Hard to imagine two more will yield significantly different results but, in a world where folks have shot themselves in the back of the head twice, anything is possible. All that said, I suspect these results will stand. So what does it mean? Well, it is in line with an interview by Dana Loesch.

“He pulled up ahead of them. And then he got a call-in that there was a strong-arm robbery. And, they gave a description. And, he’s looking at them and they got something in their hands and it looks like it could be what, you know those cigars or whatever. So he goes in reverse back to them. Tries to get out of his car. They slam his door shut violently. I think he said Michael did. And, then he opened the car again. He tried to get out. He stands up.

 

And then Michael just bum-rushes him and shoves him back into his car. Punches him in the face and them Darren grabs for his gun. Michael grabbed for the gun. At one point he got the gun entirely turned against his hip. And he shoves it away. And the gun goes off.

Well, then Michael takes off and gets to be about 35 feet away. And, Darren’s first protocol is to pursue. So, he stands up and yells, “Freeze!” Michael and his friend turn around. And Michael taunts him… And then all the sudden he just started bumrushing him. He just started coming at him full speed. And, so he just started shooting. And, he just kept coming. And, so he really thinks he was on something.”

This is also in line with a conversation between two witnesses at the scene who didn’t realize they were being recorded. That video was recorded by someone sympathetic to Michael Brown, believing it to be a criminal act rather than legitimate use of force.

Without getting into any of the hype and emotion, the facts are increasingly pointing to a justified shooting. As we mentioned on the podcast, we’ve largely avoided commenting because so much of what was reported early on had to be retracted. The shame of it is the willingness of the media and alleged “community leaders” to fan the flames of racism rather than simply asking a legitimate question of what happened. People recklessly released the personal information of the officer involved and before that, others misidentified an innocent officer in the same style as Spike Lee during the Zimmerman case. The sad reality is, even if the next two autopsies confirm the results of the first, there are those who will continue to use this case and the events surrounding it to promote their own personal agenda.

Ryan J. Reilly had a long night…So long his ignorance was showing

Can’t make this stuff up. Ryan J. Reilly, your ignorance is showing. On the subject at hand, you may have noticed we’ve been holding our tongues on this incident. We’ve done that mainly because we’re trying hard not to be like everyone else, offering opinion when the facts still aren’t in or fully known. What we can say definitively is that contrary to some news reports, not every black person in Ferguson is rioting or looting. Not every cop is out to oppress minorities. Not every shooting is another case of “the man keeping a brother down.” Sometimes shootings, whether white on black or black on white are in fact, justified. Get over it.

Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun money up in smoke as pro-gun sheriff wins in Wisconsin – Washington Times

The race took on national tones just last week when Mr. Bloomberg — who helps head the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group and who has taken up a personal crusade to scale back Second Amendment rights — threw in $150,000 to defeat Sheriff Clarke. That amount was more than what Sheriff Clarke and his opponent, Chris Moews, spent on their entire campaigns, The Post reported.

I just love a little bit of good news on “Hump Day.” Don’t you? It’s inspiring to see the voice of the people resonate in spite of meddling from the likes of Michael Bloomberg. In his crusade to buy his way into Heaven by sending gun rights to Hell, Bloomberg was handed a full on defeat by the people of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

Chris W. Cox, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action issued this statement: “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, we would like to congratulate Sheriff David A. Clarke on his hard fought victory in yesterday’s Primary election for Milwaukee County Sheriff. Sheriff Clarke’s outspoken commitment to the Second Amendment earned him the admiration of NRA members and gun owners nationwide. His dedication to freedom and the Constitution also earned him the wrath of gun control elitist Michael Bloomberg and his allies, who spent over half a million dollars (more money than both candidates in this race combined) trying to defeat Sheriff Clarke. But in the end, Bloomberg’s money could not buy the hearts and minds of the voters.”

Graphic machete attack painfully illustrates the speed and nature of true violence and why we carry guns

My immediate thought is THIS IS WHY I CARRY A GUN! Cliché, yes? Doesn’t mean it’s an invalid observation or opinion. Take note that this machete attack begins and ends in less than 60 seconds. Where this happened is largely unimportant. You name the major city, this could just as easily be anywhere USA and the results would be similar.

When faced with violence, you can get “lucky” and survive on the mercy/ineptitude of the aggressor. We are seeing just that in this video as the manager of a cybercafe tries to stop a robbery with what looks like a broomstick. He falls to the ground because he loses his balance and his stick after taking a half-hearted swing at the first attacker. Still, the hits/cuts, don’t seem to be incapacitating for the defender in the moment of the attack. That’s something to note in terms of mindset. We tell people all the time, just because your cut, hit, or shot, doesn’t mean you’re done. This man very nearly was done because he stopped fighting almost as soon as he hit the first attacker. People often lose fights and die simply because they give up the moment pain is inflicted upon them. Of course, it might have been better to bring something more than a broomstick to that fight too…See thought number one on this subject.

Also note the complete lack of interest/aid from bystanders. Only one or two people react to what’s going on and they quickly return to minding their own business…Putting their faces back in their screens as if nothing happened while a man lay bleeding on the floor. Though we often hear of bystanders stepping in, in the grand scheme of things, it’s a rare event. How many IHOP robberies have we heard of here in Houston where most patrons simply watched the robbery happen? Don’t take that as necessarily faulting those people. The fact is, it is often better to simply be a good witness. If you want to go home at night, that is the often the preferred policy.

Last but not least, we NEVER see the police. When is there even time to make THAT call? The harsh reality is you are on your own. You cannot count on the kindness of strangers…The person who feels compelled to intercede on behalf of a stranger is a rare duck. And once again, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. Deal with it. Plan accordingly.

Leave it to the mainstream media to make this a touchy feely issue. No one cares how this man feels. His feelings and “guilt” are irrelevant. And it wasn’t “fear” that drove the protests. It is in fact the law that fueled the protests.

At issue is pre-existing knee jerk legislation passed in response to previous tragedies, mandates that once such a gun hits the market, that the ONLY guns allowed to be sold in certain states going foward would be so called “smart guns” So in bringing the gun to market, it potentially enacted bans on all conventionally firearms in place like California, Maryland, and New Jersey. And the only “fear” is that the technology remains immature, untested. and impractical for any serious purpose. If it were a fully vetted technology, we’d see law enforcement and military begging for it.
