Don’t leave home without it!…Man riding bike shot in Pasadena neighborhood – Local Crime

Stay vigilant. Keep your head on a swivel. Be armed whenever possible. It all sounds like paranoia until this kind of thing happens…

A man was shot and robbed Thursday morning as he rode his bicycle in a residential neighborhood in Pasadena.

One can argue that it’s “Pasadena” and that one should expect to hear of robberies on the street there but, this wasn’t some run down dump in Pasadena. It’s actually a fairly nice neighborhood and even in the worst neighborhoods, you shouldn’t live in fear of victimization and no one should simply accept victimization as a way of life.

Yes, we advocate getting a CHL and training. Even if you don’t do the CHL or choose to carry a gun, at least consider self-defense in combative disciplines such as Systema or Krav Maga.  One thing that certainly won’t help you is sticking your head in the sand and pretending it can’t happen to you.

Black Folk Don’t: Join the NRA (YouTube)

Hat tip to Mr. Colion Nior for this one. He made a cameo appearance in this video that he didn’t know about until he saw the video. Not all of our followers will relate but, that;s OK…I’m going to step up and say it’s relevant to our “Brotherhood of the Spiral Tube” because if there’s one thing we can’t afford to do, it’s alienating a group of people who might otherwise be our allies for reasons that have nothing to do with guns. We as a community need to know/understand how we are perceived by others and what they are being told by our adversaries. There are some things in the video that people get right, some things people get wrong, some downright lies, and some clearly jacked up understanding of history.

3D Printed Metal Gun Will Sell to Lucky 100 » Solid Concepts, Inc.

Got a cool extra $12,000 just laying around? If so, you’ve got a chance at owning a piece of history…

Solid Concepts announces a limited sale of the 1911 3D Printed metal gun that made manufacturing history last month. Only one-hundred of the 1911 3D Printed metal guns will be manufactured and sold by the company using the same file, process and engineering as the very first 3D Printed metal gun.

Personally, it’s a bit rich for my blood. $12,000 is half the money I need for a Tracking-Point XS1 or a whole lot of ammo. I need the ammo more than I need another gun. Wait, what am I saying?!?! Ugh, I’m so conflicted!

New York Director of Homeland Security execises stupidity beyond words.

I briefly read a headline about this incident earlier today but thought, surely it was a missprint or misunderstanding of the facts. I was wrong.

Jerome M. Hauer, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s director of homeland security, took out his handgun and used the laser sighting device attached to the barrel as a pointer in a presentation to a foreign delegation, according to public officials.

via Ready … aim … point … talk – Times Union.

As a friend put it, perhaps the reason these people are in such a rush to take away private citizen’s guns is because they themselves can’t be trusted to use them properly either. I mean, in just one day on August 24, 2012, NYPD was responsible for shooting 10 out of 11 people shot in connection with a workplpace violence indicent and only one of the people shot was the bad guy! Between Hauer and the NYPD, New York is NOT the place to be!

Be dangerous…A cops advice.

“…be polite and professional, but know what it takes to look — and be, if necessary — dangerous in the eyes of the criminal predator.” – Sgt. Steve “Pappy” Papenfuhs via Be dangerous: Maintaining street smarts off duty.

Good advice that carries over to the average guy walking the street. A friend/mentor said to me years ago, “If you act like a wounded minnow, you’ll be treated like one.” Same point as mentioned above, just a different expression. It’s a worthwhile read.
