Update: Master Chef contestant with bi-polar disorder commits suicide, lawyer blames gun.

Guy looses to a blind chef, is diagnosed as being bi-polar, kills himself because he hadn’t sought proper medical help. His lawyer however, says it’s because he got a gun off the street. Not that he couldn’t have used a common chef’s knife to slit his own wrists or throat. But that wouldn’t be because knives are so easily available…Then he’d just a sick person who killed himself.

“It is overwhelming to think that with proper, intensive treatment, Joshua may still be with us,” his lawyer, Lisa Butler, said Sunday. “He was a jewel with so much talent to offer this world. But, in his state of mind, he turned to the streets for a gun and easily got it.”

It get’s better…Joshua Marks apparently became suicidal after being told he was schizophrenic.

“That’s not what I am, that’s not what I am,” he told his mother, the lawyer said.
“He was very distraught by this new diagnosis,” his mother said. “He was just coming to terms with having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but he just couldn’t handle this new diagnosis.”

Thug Robs Motorcycle Rider at Gunpoint but Never Saw the Cop Who Was About to Pull the Trigger

Guess this guy’s look out, wasn’t “looking out.” From The Blaze.com

While the footage begins with the motorcyclist serenely driving down the road, two men on another bike — the main culprit with the gun is identified by some outlets as Escarante Leonardo Santos – emerge, grab the victim’s vehicle and wave a gun his face.

Bowing to the armed assailant’s commands, the victim abandons the motorcycle — and just when it seems the gun-wielding culprit is about to escape the scene, two shots ring out and a police officer downs the assailant. It’s unclear what happened to the other thief, but it appears from the clip that he sped away from the scene.

Hickenlooper to Bloomberg: Shut up and stay out of Colorado…you’re not helping!

OK, that’s not exactly what was said. The except below is exactly what was said by Hickenlooper in a recent interview with USA Today.

“Colorado is a state that people like to be themselves and solve their own problems,” the Democratic governor said in an interview with Capital Download, USA TODAY’s weekly video newsmaker series. “They don’t really like outside organizations meddling in their affairs, and maybe the NRA gets a pass on that.

Hickenlooper made the statements above in an interview about looming recall efforts against Evie Hudak. Hudak famously or infamously dismissed/contradicted rape survivor Amanda Collins during Collins’ testimony before Veteran and Military Affairs Committee meeting. Collins explained that had she been able to carry a gun, she might not have been raped but, Hudak insisted Collins was better off being unarmed saying, “…statistics are not on your side.” Hudak went on to say that had Collins had a gun the night she was raped, Collins’ attacker would have taken her gun from her and used it to kill Collins. Even if Hudak has statistics on her side, common sense says there is little to be gained from publicly rebuking a rape victim and basically telling her, “You would have been raped anyway…having a gun just would have meant, he’d kill you too.” For all the talk of a Republican “War on Women,” Hudak (a Democrat) doesn’t seem to be interested in helping women much at all and is as sexist as it gets. There just might be enough steam left in the recall engine to burn her to the ground.

BREAKING: CA Gov. Jerry Brown VETOES SB 374 Semi-Auto Ban, 6 Other Gun Bills

BREAKING: CA Gov. Jerry Brown VETOES SB 374 Semi-Auto Ban, 6 Other Gun Bills.

From the Firearms Policy Coalition: California Governor Jerry Brown announced his official rejection of 7 gun control bills passed by the Legislature last month. The vetoed laws include SB 374, a ban on semi-automatic rifles authored by Senator Darrell Steinberg. It’s not a complete victory as a ban on lead ammunition for hunting among other anti-gun bills did pass.

It’s no secret that California policies on guns are often later tried on the national scale. Where firearm freedoms are concerned, California has been on a long slide downhill since the 1960s when they passed a ban on open carry because of the Black Panthers. The fact Brown vetoed what amounted to an all out ban on all modern firearms may be a glimmer of hope for what many of us would rightly consider a lost state
