Word is, Glock is teasing us…Again.

Guns.com says Glock may be teasing about a new single-stack pistol. We at GOTR mentioned more than a year ago, that Glock specifically told us there was a 9mm single-stack coming but, wouldn’t say when they might release it. We all expected it might be released in time for SHOT Show but, that didn’t happen.

Instead, we learned the much anticipated Glock “40” would be a “long-slide” like the Glock 17L and 24 models that came before. The Glock 40 is also the first of the new Modular Optic System (MOS), optics ready models that will compete with Smith & Wesson’s, Pro Series C.O.R.E. pistols. Not an unwelcome addition to the Glock line-up but, the concealed carry market is ripe for Glock to present their own answer for Smith & Wesson’s highly successful M&P Shield if Glock’s own 42 is any indicator.

The ATF is “shelving” the ban on M855…For now

In a statement released today, the ATF said that it will not “seek to issue a final framework” at this time. Apparently, they received 80,000 comments and more than a few from Congress. This doesn’t mean the fight is over. If Democrats regain majority control of Congress and maintain control of the White House after 2016 or at any time after that, you can bet this will come up again.

“…Although ATF endeavored to create a proposal that reflected a good faith interpretation of the law and balanced the interests of law enforcement, industry, and sportsmen, the vast majority of the comments received to date are critical of the framework, and include issues that deserve further study. Accordingly, ATF will not at this time seek to issue a final framework…”

Excuse the language in the recording. The guy who recorded this is an idiot. Why? Because he stuck around to record it! When stuff like this jumps off, if you can, drop enough cash to cover the bill and GTFO. Don’t hang around for stuff like this!

The large man has taken umbrage to the fact the mental midget he’s berating had struck the woman at the table. While it’s commendable that he’s defending a stranger, it’s also not necessarily smart. Too many unknowns and, ask any cop, he’s running the risk of the woman becoming the attacker…Defending the man who beat her! That said, he’s got something going for him that most don’t. As a friend rightly pointed out, “… someone THAT big tells you, ‘Go ahead, shoot me m***** f***er! It won’t be the first time!’ You should probably consider your subsequent actions very carefully.”

If you repeat a lie often enough, eventually people believe it. Make no mistake, gun ownership is actually on the rise. Women make up the fastest growing group of gun owners and minorities of every stripe are also taking up guns. But given the tendency of left leaning pollsters (like those from National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago) and the media in general to vilify gun owners, could it be that we’re seeing, not so much a decline in gun ownership but, a decline in the number of people willing to give away that information to these people? Or might it be that their “sample” is limited to a specific demographic group or geographic region?

A major U.S. trend survey finds that the number of Americans who live in a household with at least one gun is lower than it’s ever been. That decline is paralleled by a reduction in the number of Americans who hunt.

According to the latest General Social Survey, 32 percent of Americans either own a firearm themselves or live with someone who does, which ties a record low set in 2010. That’s a significant decline since the late 1970s and early 1980s, when about half of Americans reported a gun in their household.

The drop is probably linked with a decline in the popularity of hunting, from 32 percent who lived in a household with at least one hunter in 1977 to less than half that number saying so now.

Franklin County couple injured after woman’s Glock goes off in purse – Roanoke Times: News

The headline of a couple being shot by a woman’s Glock that just “went off” in her purse has been circling the Interwebs and inspiring commentary from anti-gunners and old fogies alike. Of course, they all see it as an opportunity to denigrate Glocks or carrying a round in the chamger. But Glocks aren’t the problem here. Much like the woman who shot herself “while adjusting her bra,” it’s a problem of negligence, not a bad choice in guns. If you’re going to put a loaded gun in a purse, it needs to be secured in a holster, period.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office officials say a woman was shot in both legs and her boyfriend shot through his hand after her gun went off in her purse Saturday afternoon.

Lt. Phillip Young said the woman’s Glock went off while the couple sat in a vehicle outside a residence in the 1400 block of Virgil H. Goode Highway in Bassett about 3:30 p.m. The man, who was in the driver’s seat, put a drink can in the woman’s purse before putting his hand on her leg .

“[The bullet] went through his hand, through one of her legs near the knee area and then hit her other knee,” Young said. “Her pocketbook was full of stuff. It’s hard to say what made it go off.”
