Remington Defense rifles headed to the consumer market

Remington Arms has announced that they are bringing a handful of Remington Defense products to the commercial market for sale to the general public. These rifles were originally developed for military use which gives them instant appeal to consumers everywhere.

This is a new chapter for Remington Defense, who’s primary focus has always been developing products for the U.S. military and law enforcement agencies, as well as friendly agencies abroad. The firearms are developed for professionals by professionals and have never before been offered to the public.

Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) is pushing the Armor Piercing Bullets Act followingthe Obama administration’s decision earlier this week to withdraw a controversial proposal that would restrict 5.56 mm projectiles for M855 cartridges commonly used in AR-15 rifles.

“Armor-piercing rounds like green tips should only be in the hands of military personnel or police officers, period,” Engel said. “There is absolutely no compelling argument to be made for anyone else to have access to them.”

“But the out-of-touch gun industry lobby is fighting tooth and nail to keep cop-killing ammunition on the streets. We need to speak up on behalf of our police officers and say ‘stop the madness, ’” he added.

Glock 43…I’m going to just leave this here

glock43Finally. After years and years of hints, teases, and the release of the red-headed step-child none of us asked for, Glock has a single-stack 9mm. The single-stack we actually wanted. A proper, 9x19mm rather than the 9mm short.

We will make every effort to get one into our hands and tested as soon as they become available. While we’re excited to see the gun enter the market, I promise, we won’t be “fan boys” who give it a glowing review just because it’s a Glock. If it fails, it fails. We’ll tell you what works for us and what doesn’t. But, we do hope, that like nearly every other Glock, it will work with boring monotony.

This just in…ATF says coffee, donuts, and police cars are a challenge to officer safety

No. The ATF didn’t really say coffee, donuts, or police cars are a threat to officer safety. But since we’re jumping the shark into the realm of hysteria…We may as well go whole hog. What else poses a danger to cops? Traffic? Yup. Interacting with the public? Pretty much. Let’s just ban it all!

As has been said over and over again, the proposed framework (even if they don’t implement it) was designed to give the ATF the ability to ban ALL rifle ammunition under the pretense that it is a threat to law enforcement. That’s is B. Todd Jones’ goal and directive from the man who appointed him. Though the President and Jones claim to respect the Second Amendment, every proposal they’ve made has been an attempt to circumvent it.

What is amazing is that even the news organization that bears Michael Bloomberg’s name pointed to the ATF’s pursuit of a ban as being a waste of time.

Green tips, moreover, haven’t contributed discernibly to shooting waves, let alone skeins of cop killings. The ban has been shelved for now but, it’s not time to celebrate. The ATF is still moving foward with 41P which for many of us, will make it all but impossible to purchase NFA items by requiring CLEO signatures on transfers even to trusts and corporations. If you live in a place like Harris County, Texas, the obvious CLEO signature would be that of Sheriff Adrian Garcia or someone acting under his authority. Rest assured, that signature will never happen and there are scant few alternatives to anyone who isn’t politically connected at the federal level in Harris County.

41P aside, it is clear the new ATF director will continue to make every effort to gut the Second Amendment. The President that appointed him promised to do so when Congress wouldn’t. Even if the M855 ban is shelved for now, we’ll likely see it again or something far worse before the current administration leaves office in 2017.
