Remington creates a stir in New York by checking out sites in Tennessee

New York gun makers in a squeeze: stay or go? – City & Region – The Buffalo News.

At the height of the controversies following the Sandy Hook Massacre, Remington Arms was viewed as a bit of a turn coat. This was in part, because Remington had recently secured some $80 million in new business producing rifles for the US government and in doing so, issues assurances that they would remain in New York as other NY manufactures planned to move.  This happened at a time that New York’s “SAFE” Act threatened to make it impossible for gun manufacturers to continue operating in the state.  But, the New York legislature saw fit to codify exceptions for Remington Arms that would allow them to continue operations in the state, they simply couldn’t sell many of their products to NY residents.

Well, now it looks like Remington Arms was either holding their cards close to their chest, or may have simply wised up and realized New York’s current political structure will eventually drive them out of business. It seems that Remington has been scouting sites for new facilities in  Tennessee. It is unclear if this location scouting is just company leadership going through motions to appease customers who threaten to stop doing business with a gun company residing in New York, or if Remington is serious about potentially expanding or relocating entirely out of New York. Either way, Remington is commenting publicly.

CJ Grisham mentioned in commentary about what’s wrong with our Armed Forces…

An interesting and worth while read…(http://www.michaelyon-online.com/monkey-business-our-broken-army/All-Pages.htm)

I’d like to say first the article above should NOT be taken as an indictment against open carry or those supporting open carry.  For the record, we firmly believe Texans, all Americans, should have the option to carry openly if they so choose. But the fact is, open carry is not the subject of this article at all.

The article is in fact, commentary on issues of leadership and discipline (or lack thereof) within our Armed Forces. Issues we’ve heard echoed many times among those currently serving and those who left active service in recent years. It happens however, that the article leads off with what can only be described as the ongoing misadventures of one Master Sergeant CJ Grisham, US Army. Apparently Grisham was recently relieved of duty as the Non-commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) of the Army’s Warrior Adventure Quest at Fort Hood.

Grisham has been held out by some as a hero of the 2nd Amendment and Open Carry movement.  And while I know I’ll take heat for this, Grisham’s behavior in the now infamous Temple, TX video didn’t sit any better with me than that of the police officers in said video. I have long wondered if, like those who immediately jumped to holding Trayvon Martin out as a modern martyr of the “Civil Rights Movement” and racial equality, people were jumping to the defense of Grisham with the same sort of blind bias. The article would seem to indicate that this would be “hero” may not be up to the task and is more of an example of a professional victim.

It is a sure sign the government is messed up when the NRA backs the ACLU!

NRA backs ACLU spying lawsuit over gun registry fears | Fox News.
We hear nearly all challenges against the President and his administration being dismissed as little more than fear mongering by bigotted old white men. Well, the ACLU is about as multi-racial, multi-cultural, and multi-ethnic as it gets and most people consider it a largely liberal organization.  Imagine how strange it is then, that the NRA, an organization that is decidedly on the other end of the political spectrum finds itself in agreement with the ACLU and even signing on in support of an ACLU suit against the President they supported for election?

Obama promises mayors unilateral action on guns…Part Deux

The Washington Times is reporting that Obama has promised more unilateral action on guns. I can only guess this is a distraction meant for those with short attention spans and fleeting memories. That or some poll told them to stir the pot so it didn’t look like they’ve given up on gun control ahead of November elections.

Obama’s previously announced executive orders were really a non-issue. The either reiterated policies that already existed or were pathetic attempts to placate those demanding action without any clue what “action” meant.  Still, the war isn’t over and the smart kids recognize that we’ve got another major fight coming.  It may start with the gun trust issue mentioned a few days back but, that remains to be seen.
